This Sunday we have cross country courtesy of Springfield Striders at Writtle Park Farm Edney Common. Details can be found on this link   http://www.springfieldstriders.org.uk/local/OURRACE.pdf

As we are now deep into marathon training, I am planning to run back to Chatham Green after the race, about 11 miles. If anyone would like to join me I suggest coming to Chatham Green for 9:30 and we can car share over to the start and then your car will be ready and waiting for you on your return after a cup of tea at Chatham cottage.

Even if you aren't planning to run back there is quite limited parking so it maybe advisable to meet up and car share anyway.

Two meeting places this week if you want to car share. Be at the gym to leave by 9.15am or at Chatham Green to leave by 9.30am (as Pru posted above)

Still haven't warmed up yet.... and can't find a blue smiley to use....

My race was; "cold, now wet, now cold and wet, now too hot - why did I put on so many layers, hold on wet again, cold again, wet and cold again, look a puddle, another puddle, and another puddle, hey that's a stream, so is that, and that, wow! a muddy puddle - that's a change, puddle, puddle, mud, mud, mud, mud, puddle, puddle, paddle, COFFEE......."

And if you decided to run another 11 miles after that you are certifiable.

Hey, I can feel my toes again -yipeee!

Big well done to everyone that ran today - the weather made it a very character building run. Might have needed armbands if it had been our Stebbing XC run today

Great turnout yesterday from everyone in what can only be described as character building conditions !! The Ladies pulled off another brilliant win, with Jane winning the race, Tina 2nd and Pru 4th giving a score of just 7 points. The men turned out in force and were all back with a lowest finish position of 26th which would usually have given us at least a 2nd position, but with a strong Springfield home team and the ever strong Leigh on Sea we had to settle for 3rd. A great effort from the boys !!

I've got some work to do on my speed before Little Baddow  as I just scraped in the scoring. Dave is getting away from me and with James joining us 2nd claim from Chelmsford, I need to get my act together ... fast !!

Character building it was, but in some macabre way great fun! I'm sure I saw Jules disappear and reappear from a large puddle in front of me!  Nick L, love your attempt at a X Country rapp!

    Well done the ladies........Magnifico!

    ·         Having just looked at the results, unless Steve Downing has developed an extreme turn of speed I think we have our Steve’s muddled......and I don't even remember seeing Steve D there?

Great result for the ladies team, obviously fantastic run from Jane, she has now got so fast I can't even see her any more let alone hold any hope of catching her!

Most important result was JBS she pushed the third L-on-S runner down a place ensuring we rectified our points deficit from the week before last. Well done Jo that last effort really paid off.

Great run from Sarah, good to see her running so fast and I’m really enjoying the battle between Karen Carr and Sue Harrington, these two are both improving quickly and moving through the field together.

Hard as nails award goes to Jules and Jackie and Tim Rowntree, who donned some dry kit and then ran 11 miles back to Chatham Green in a rain filled headwind. Thanks to CH for the very welcome roaring fire and hot soup when we arrived.

Thanks to Charlotte and Simon on kit duty the new jackets looked stunning, hurry before they all go.

    Oscar speech now over !!!

Yes big thanks Chris and Pru - with the scrummy soup and roaring fire I could have easily stayed on your sofa cuddled up with Paddy (the cat) all afternoon!

PS. Can't believe the weather is so different today, there's even blue skies over the grey buildings of Canary Wharf  - Hello March!
